Did you know that late spring into early summer is the busiest time to move? With so many people packing, wrapping and moving around, you’re likely looking for some good tips on how to reduce the chaos.
The fact is this: two of the most stressful events in a person’s life are a divorce and moving. Hopefully, you’re not too worried about the first one, but still, as stressful as moving is, there may be one or two people out there who would actually rather get divorced!
To make sure you don’t get bitten by the moving stress bug, follow simple tips to ensure a stress-free experience.
Have you planned ahead? It may seem like such a simple question, when in fact there’s a lot to think about. You’ve got a big sofa, entertainment center and other large pieces of furniture that you’ll need to fit through a doorway and even down the stairs if you live in an apartment. How much measuring have you done?
Also, don’t move your food. Do your best to clear out what’s already in your fridge and stop buying frozen or fresh foods a week or two before the big move.
When you pack, assign each room a unique color, whether it’s through stickers you put on the side of a box or colored markers. Utilize everything from empty suitcases to baskets and hampers to pack items in. Once all this is done, make a chart for your movers.
Finally, one of the most important tips people forget is to take a photo of the back of your entertainment center so that you can quickly and easily hook everything back up once you’ve moved into the new place, and all with minimal hassle.
